All of us have filled the registration form at some time, whether it is to create a new email account on Gmail, or to fill an online form for a passport, or to create a new account on a social website like Facebook. The registration form is the only medium through which you register or login on any website, that is why it is very important that while designing the form of such a website, we should take care of some special things. Here we will see some form design tips which if you integrate into your design can give a delightful experience to your user.
Form Design Tips
Keep Form Short:
Ask your users the least questions and ask only about the necessary information. As in the first example given, there is no need for fields like Address 1 and Address 2. By asking fewer questions, the user will fill the form quickly and he will not have any problem.

Align the sections properly:
Alignment is very important for effective form design. This makes the structure of your form professional and it is very effective. If you want, you can keep the fields of the form LEFT, RIGHT or CENTER aligned, it depends on your design, but do not put all the alignment in the same form design.

Use instant help message:
How will you feel when you have filled all the fields of the form and all the errors appear together when you submit - you will be frustrated. It would be better that you immediately show the error of every mistake under the same field so that it is easier for the user to fill the form.

Use optional label:
As we saw earlier, you should put only the field of required information in the form. However, if you want to keep the "optional" field - then it is better to give all the required field "Required" or * (asterisk) sign that you use the "Optional" label for the optional field.

Take care of Primary and Secondary Actions:
Look at the form given below and tell us what you want the user to do in this form? If you see "Login" and "Cancel" both button's size, color, and size are the same because you are giving equal importance to both of them which are wrong. If you want the user's primary action to be "Login", then keep it prominent and give more importance, similarly the "Cancel" button which is the secondary action, keep it small and give less importance.

Use Inspiring title:
The inspirational title has always been a success. Write the title of your form in such a way that the user gets excited and fill the form as soon as possible. Also, by using a term like Call to Action button like "Show me the 10 fonts", the user will feel that you are giving them a lot of importance and they are going to benefit greatly.

Always keep Alternate option
You want the user to subscribe to your website or register, but with this, you also have to keep in mind that you do not force the user. Give him the option to cancel. In the example given below, if the user does not want FREE COPY, then give him the option to "Skip". If the user does not want to register on your website, then give him the option to login through another social profile, such as Google, Facebook, or twitter.

Use the Matching Keypad
Use the correct keypad according to the input field of the form, such as if the user has to fill the credit card number, then the numeric keypad of your form will appear and not the Alphabet keypad. This will save the time of the user and he will be able to fill the form quickly.

It has been seen that the user always hesitates to fill the online form, so it is the job of the designer like you to design the form filling process according to the user's comfort and make them a better experience.
