By following the steps below, you can change your nickname to Fortnite for Switch and the other players will be able to see it with the newly chosen name, which will be linked to their Epic Games account. All this, of course, without losing game progress.

How to change names in Fortnite Nintendo Switch. Useful background information
Before getting to the heart of the tutorial and explaining how to change names in Fortnite for Nintendo Switch, it is important that I explain the mechanism linked to the change of username in the famous Epic Games title.
The first point to clarify refers to the difference between Nintendo nickname and Epic Games used in Fortnite: in Nintendo, it appears on your character when you access the game but, be careful, it is not what other players see when they are online. The "real" name in Fortnite is the one linked to your Epic Games account, and unfortunately, it is not possible to change it directly from the Nintendo Switch.
However, this does not mean that it is possible to change the name in the edition of Fortnite intended for the hybrid Nintendo console: simply, to do so, you must proceed from a computer, smartphone, or tablet modifying, in fact, the Epic Games account. (in case, remote, you don't have one yet, you can find how to create it in this guide of mine)
One final warning I must give you before I explain in detail how to proceed is to choose your new nickname carefully because once you have changed it, you will have to wait at least two weeks before we can make any new changes. Everything clear? Well then get ready to continue!
How to change names in Fortnite for Switch
To get a new name in Fortnite for Switch, as I just mentioned, you need to act on your Epic Games Profile - just change the nickname directly on Epic's official website so that the new name is available with immediate effect. Everything is explained here in detail below.
Of the computer
If you have decided to change your nickname in Fortnite using a personal computer or Mac, please connect to the official Fortnite website using your preferred browser.
Once the home page of the site is displayed, you will see the button in the top menu bar access: proceed by clicking on it, so that the message appears with the writing Do you already play Fortnite? . Then answer this question with the key no (I advise you to do this even if you already play Fortnite, to speed up the procedure).
You can now see the page Create account and button access to the right: click the latter and enter the email address you used to register on the website Epic, with the password. When you have completed both fields, click the access button. I take this opportunity to point out that you can also put the check in the white square placed next to the writing remember, to always stay connected to the site even after closing it.
!! Congratulations!! You have just logged into the official Fortnite website and the name change is now just a few clicks away. To make sure you have successfully logged in, look at the top right corner: instead of the sign-in button, you should see your current nickname.
To continue, then move the cursor over the current nickname and scroll through the menu that appears, then press the account button. The new page you see is displayed as the first entry. General settings; immediately afterward, however, find Personal Details: You can change your name in Fortnite just below this heading, by typing the new name you intend to use below the writing Display Name.

You wonder if you can change your name in Fortnite without using your PC or Mac, but with a smartphone or tablet. Quiet, of course, it is, and it is also very simple.
The first step you need to take is to open the browser you use to browse online on your smartphone or tablet (eg chrome on Android and Safari on iOS) and connect to the official Fortnite website. Once this is done, you will need to press the menu icon (the three horizontal lines on a yellow background) located at the top of the screen.
Among the options that will open, you will have to touch the access button then answer with the key no to the question You already play Fortnite (I recommend that you choose this option even if you already play Fortnite, to speed up the procedure).
In the new screen that appears, scroll down and tap the sign-in button to open the form to insert username and password. Once completed, press the access button and if all the details were correct, you will be redirected to the main page. Now you can press the key again with the three horizontal lines then tap the button with your current nickname text.
The last step to change the name is very simple: in the newly opened page, move the item Name to display touch the white box with your name, and enter the new one. When you're done logging in, scroll down and hit the blue Save Changes button.
Great job! Your new name in Fortnite will be displayed during online games on Switch, but remember that to change it again you will have to wait at least two weeks of time

You can take advantage of this service while you stay comfortably at home, by connecting to the official Epic Games support page and typing, in the top bar, "change name".
The result of the investigation will be a proposed solution: if this is not satisfactory, you can request direct support from an operator, by clicking on the CONTACT button, at the top right and entering the required data: Language, name (not mandatory), Address email and platform (the platform used in this case is Nintendo Switch).
Then, click the select drop-down menu and choose the Epic Games Account Update. Before clicking the purple submit button, go to the garage Security text and write the text that appears in the image to the side (if you don't read it well, click the red circular arrow and the image will be updated with a different one).
